State testing for all ESL students happens in January. Students are tested in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Results are made available in June.
The ESL department also uses a writing assessment in the Fall and Spring. Teachers will use this formative assessment to help drive instruction in the classroom. To further instruction, I have developed a variety of writing assessments that the students will complete each month to help drive our small group instruction.
